School Support For Parents

In depth support that helps you understand what’s really going on for your child and what to do next

When School Becomes A Struggle

For some parents, school mornings begin with an uncomfortable knot in your stomach, not knowing whether your child will get up ready for the day ahead or stay curled up in bed feeling overwhelmed and unable to go in.

For others, it starts with a feeling that something isn't quite right. Your child may be becoming increasingly anxious, struggling with friendships, finding school exhausting, or reacting in ways that don't seem to make sense.

Before long, it starts to affect every part of your day, from the stressful and unpredictable mornings to the evenings where everyone is exhausted, emotional and just trying to get through without another argument or upset.

You are dealing with emails, phone calls, and meeting requests from the school, and it can feel like no one is really understanding what is happening or offering anything practical to help.

Over time, it begins to impact your relationships, your work, and your own wellbeing, and it can feel like your whole life has turned into one big juggling act. You are constantly trying to work out what you should be doing differently, how to stop things from getting any worse, and you are left with no idea what to do next or who to turn to for the right support.

And through all of this, your child is still struggling, with no one really understanding what is actually going on for them, or what they need.

That’s where we come in.

We sit in the gap between home and school, helping you make sense of what is really happening and turning what you are seeing at home into something schools can recognise and respond to. At the same time, we help you understand what school is saying, so it starts to make more sense and feels easier to manage.

At the centre of everything we do is your child’s voice. Support only works when we understand how school actually feels for them day to day, not just what it looks like from the outside. That is why we build our work around what your child is telling us, alongside your insight as a parent, so we can get to what is really sitting underneath their behaviour.

Whether your child is struggling with school anxiety, attendance, friendships, transition to secondary school, unmet needs, SEND, emotional overwhelm, or simply no longer seeming able to cope in the way they once did, we are here to help you understand what they are feeling and what they need, so you can support them in a way that actually works, without it feeling like a constant battle.

Our aim is simple, to bridge the gap between home and school so your child can feel settled, understood, and able to cope in school.

This work is led by Michelle Bush, who brings over 25 years of experience in education, safeguarding, and parent advocacy. Michelle has worked extensively in Year 6 to 7 transition, admissions, pastoral care, safeguarding, and family support, helping hundreds of children and families navigate school worries before they become much harder to turn around. She understands how difficult it can feel when your child is struggling with school and nothing seems to be helping.

Sound Familiar?

Every school morning feels like a battle, with anxiety, tears, and frustration, before the day has even started.

Your child says they’re fine, but your gut is telling you something isn’t right.

You’re being told it’s poor behaviour, attitude, or effort, but that doesn’t feel like your child or the full picture.

School meetings fill you with dread and you leave feeling unheard, or like you’re still not getting the answers you need.

You know how to support your child at home, but you’re not sure how to get that understood or supported in school.

Your child used to cope, but recently something has changed and you're not sure why.

Starting Secondary School

The move up to secondary school is one of the biggest changes a child will experience during their education.

Whilst many children settle quickly, for others this is often the first point where worries around friendships, confidence, organisation, school expectations and emotional wellbeing begin to appear.

We strongly believe in being preventative with our approach and that the best time to put support in place is before a child starts struggling, not after. Our aim is to help parents identify potential challenges early and put the right support in place before small worries become bigger problems..

To help with this, we've created a free Secondary School Transition Booklet with practical advice and insights for parents.

Transition Passport Assessment

Want your child's new secondary school to understand who they are before they even walk through the door?

Whilst schools receive information about academic ability and attainment, they rarely receive a clear picture of how a child experiences school, what motivates them, what worries them, and what support helps them feel confident and settled.

Our Transition Passport helps bridge that gap, creating a clear picture of your child's strengths, needs and likely transition challenges before September arrives.

Combining your knowledge as a parent with our understanding of child development and transition, we create:

✔ A tailored parent guidance report to help you support your child through their first term at secondary school

✔ A concise school passport that gives staff the information they need to support your child from day one

Helping both home and school understand what your child needs before school struggles have a chance to develop.

How Else Can We Help?

Following your report, we can also provide additional support with school meetings, transition planning, attendance concerns, school anxiety and understanding your child's individual needs.
